I was struggling with heavy bleeding and passing blood clots the size half of my hand during my menstrual period. My obs gynae booked me for an initial MRI scan and blood tests and on receipt of the MRI scans, he diagnosed me with fibroids disease. My obs gynae discussed the various treatment options available to me and I decided on the uterine artery embolisation procedure. I live in Jersey, Channel Islands, and was met with very little to no support for well over three weeks by obs gynae and radiologists in Jersey, Channel Islands. I was left with no choice but to explore options of getting the uterine artery embolisation procedure performed in London. I did some research and came across Dr Paul Crowe’s profile and his past patients’ reviews on Doctify and was impressed. I made an initial enquiry with Carola Hoepke (a senior secretary in the Imaging Department) and she responded with a great level of support and compassion. She reached out to Dr Paul Crowe for his availability to book me for and perform uterine artery embolisation on me in an emergency / urgent basis. Carola came back to me immediately and confirmed that Dr Crowe was prepared to move around some initial appointments and book me in for a uterine artery embolisation without any further delays. I was booked in for my initial consult with Dr Crowe on Easter Monday; blood tests and MRI scans on Thursday, 24 April 2025, and my embolisation procedure on Friday, 25 April 2025. My uterine embolisation procedure went really well and I am already noticing positive changes in my body one week post procedure. I was surrounded by incredible support of Dr Crowe, the staff and nurses at the Imaging Department and The Princess Grace Hospital during my procedure and post procedure. The level of support, care, and compassion I received during before the procedure, during the procedure and post procedure were excellent! I’d 10 out of 10 highly recommend Dr Crowe and team for the uterine artery embolisation procedure. Their care, support and compassion is second to none!

The first words that come to mind when describing my experience and Dr Makalanda are - throrough - thoughtful - knowledgeable and very kind, all of which help a great deal when you are already worried and a little scared. Many many thanks to Dr Makalanda, his secretary and team.

From the outset Professor Little was an attentive listener, intent on understanding my symptoms and aspirations. He was also willing to adapt to my accelerated timeline, in view of my limited time in the UK, which I greatly appreciated. With the assistance of his very capable secretary Valentina, he then smoothly orchestrated all preparatory measures prior to my Prostate Artery Embolization procedure, including blood tests and a CT-Scan. By the time I appeared at Princess Grace Hospital on December 11th for the defining action, I was confident about the course I had chosen. In the operating theatre the PAE surgery unfolded impeccably. Professor Little and his team were highly professional, courteous and kind, in a way that put me at ease. The same held true for Professor Little's post-operative consultation in my hospital room a short while later. My post-operative results have also been very satisfactory. I presented a complicated case, given my neurogenic bladder, but I nonetheless experienced a notable improvement to my urinary flow about seven-ten days later. These improvements to my urological function occurred steadily over the ensuing three months, to the point that I was able to curtail my employment of intermittent catheterization to just one-two times per day, now transitioning to one. And the improvements are continuing still, in a way that has exceeded my expectations. I consider the procedure to be a success.

Dr Neil Rane was excellent, he was detailed, empathetic as he knew how anxious I was and made the experience as calm and as comfortable as possible for me. He was attentive, knowledgeable and clear in every aspect of my care and would highly recommend him.
