Dr. Harvinder Chahal undertook his medical degree at St Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine, graduating in 2001, and then trained in Endocrinology and Diabetes at St Bartholomew's Hospital.
Dr. Chahal is highly active in research and in 2007 he was awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council training fellowship to undertake research in the field of pituitary tumorigenesis, resulting in several influential research papers in high impact journals. He has been awarded several national and international prizes for his research and clinical work, and written several textbook chapters. Dr Chahal is also a member of the Society for Endocrinology and Diabetes UK.
Dr. Chahal is a lead bariatric physician and manages patients before and after surgery, to reduce their risk, and to optimise the health benefits of weight loss. He is an experienced endocrinologist in all aspects of Endocrinology and Diabetes – including thyroid, adrenal, prolactin and pituitary diseases, obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome, hirsutism, diabetes, parathyroid, calcium, vitamin D and bone metabolism, lipid disorders, hypertension, cardiovascular risk reduction, and neuroendocrine tumours.
He also has an interest in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. Between 2014-2022 he was the Unit Training Lead in the Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary's Hospital sites). Between 2016-2020, he was the Director of Clinical Studies at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (St Mary's Hospital site). He is the module lead on the Obesity Medicine MSc course at Imperial College London. He is also a teacher and examiner on the Plymouth University Postgraduate Diploma course in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

I was very impressed. Having never seen an endocrinologist before, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Dr Chahal took plenty of time asking me questions that I never even knew were questions and gave me some excellent advice which I’ll be following. He is clearly highly experienced.
