Dr. Paul Farrant is a Consultant Dermatologist and Clinical Lead for Dermatology at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Trust. He brings extensive expertise to his role, with about half of his clinical work focused on the diagnosis, management, and surgical treatment of sun damage and skin cancer. Dr. Farrant's medical interests include common dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, and hair loss (alopecia). He is a leading expert in the treatment of both scarring and non-scarring hair loss and various scalp disorders.

Dr. Farrant graduated with distinction from Guys and St Thomas Medical School in 1999 and quickly chose to specialise in dermatology. His advanced training took place at renowned institutions, including the St Johns' Institute of Dermatology at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital, as well as at leading London teaching hospitals like King's College and St Georges. In 2009, he joined Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Trust as a consultant dermatologist, and in 2012, he became the Clinical Lead for Dermatology. He has since established himself as a key figure in the field, earning six clinical excellence awards for his contributions to the NHS. His work in dermatology also earned him the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2012.

Dr. Farrant's expertise extends beyond general dermatology into the highly specialised area of hair and scalp disorders, where he is recognised as a national authority. As a founder of the British Hair and Nail Society and a Fellow of the European Hair Research Society, he actively contributes to research, guidelines, and education in this field. He frequently lectures nationally and internationally on hair loss, alopecia, and scalp conditions, and is currently the principal investigator in several alopecia research studies.

As part of the skin cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals, Dr. Farrant performs over 400 skin cancer surgeries annually, ensuring comprehensive care for his patients. He is involved with professional organisations such as the British Association of Dermatologists, American Academy of Dermatology, and European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology.
