All my appointments and treatments with Mr Muntasser have taken place at the St Paul’s Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. From the outset, I was very impressed by my experiences at RLUH; the hospital is bright, welcoming and comfortable. The nursing staff are invariably helpful and caring and although the Eye Unit is nearly always busy, they are willing to reassure you about any concerns you may have. My 1st appt with Mr Muntasser was on 25thSept’23 and the problem with my left eye was such that he decided he would operate just four days later. He explained what the procedure would entail in such a clear and reassuring way that I didn’t experience much anxiety prior to coming into hospital. My operation had been on a Friday afternoon but Mr Muntasser came into work on the Saturday morning, specifically to check on my progress. That's dedication in my book. Since then, I have been seen by Mr Muntasser on a number of occasions for check-ups and testing. I have invariably found him to be professional in his approach, caring, and willing to take the time to answer any questions I may ask. He has a good sense of humour which helps to reduce any tendency to nervousness and anxiety.

I have been very happy with the care I have received for glaucoma from Mr Muntasser and his team at St Paul's Hospital, Royal Liverpool University Hospital. It is a very busy department until recently in old-fashioned and less than ideal accommodation, nevertheless the surgery, follow-up and check-ups have all been very professional and I have every confidence in the treatment, which is ongoing.

My engagement with Mr Muntasser started when the symptoms of my Glaucoma condition first became evident. I was not really sure what was occurring and he was quick to reassure me that the condition was widely understood and often managed with a deal of success via a range of actions. Working away from home at the time, I continued to receive first rate care and support from the St Pauls Liverpool University Hospital Eye Clinic that was led by Mr Muntasser. Indeed, this has continued now that I have returned to Portsmouth and Mr Muntasser, along with his team, have now relocated into the new Liverpool Royal Hospital. Having undergone Laser Eye Treatment on both eyes and two sessions of surgery to address the Glaucoma in my left eye, I have always been well informed on what the procedures entail, the risks associated with the procedures, what represents success and how this will be measured and the aftercare requirements when appropriate. Thoroughly supportive, amiable and professional in all that he does, Mr Muntasser has my unrelenting respect and gratitude for helping me through a difficult period.

Mr Muntasser is extremely skilled and knowledgeable in his field. He was able to identify a condition I had in one appointment after other consultants had not been able to. Mr Muntasser then followed up his diagnosis with a successful operation. He explained everything to me so I could understand what was happening and provided reassurance while being honest about risks. His caring nature and clear skills gave me total confidence in his care. As a younger patient having this condition he has saved my eyesight so I can continue to see my two young children grow up. I am eternally grateful to him.
