About Mr Hooman Sherafat
Mr Hooman Sherafat is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and until recently Lead Clinician at the Royal Eye Unit, Kingston Hospital NHS Trust. As an experienced Ophthalmologist, Mr Sherafat performs operations such as cataract surgery in addition to his specialist interest in Ophthalmic plastic, lacrimal and reconstructive surgery.
Upon qualifying from St George's Hospital Medical School in 1992, Mr Sherafat undertook higher specialist training in Ophthalmology at Guys and St. Thomas' Hospital and the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. It was there that he later completed further sub specialist fellowship training in the field of Oculoplastic. Today he is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Mr Sherafat has great experience in the field and a keen interest in cataract surgery including all types of premium intraocular lenses and treating all aspects of oculoplastic disorders ranging from lid malpositions to non-surgical periocular rejuvenation..

Mr Sherafat’s care was exemplary.He was very caring as I was nervous,and explained the procedure as he went along,which was reassuring. The procedure has been very successful I feel and I could see clearly within a few hours. I have had no issues since other than trying to apply eyedrops accurately and keep out of the sunlight!

I first went to see Mr Sherafat in the middle of January. I had cataract surgeries on my left eye on 5 February and my right eye on 19 March. Throughout this period, Mr Sherafat gave me clear explanations for the surgeries both verbally and in writing. He gained my trust quickly and I had no concern about the procedure at all. Mr Sherafat’s secretary, Dodo, was always helpful and my questions were answered swiftly by her. Now my eyesight has recovered completely and I am extremely happy with this outcome.

Made everything go like clockwork

I approached cataract operations in both eyes with some trepidation. One’s eyesight is one’s most precious sense. When faced with surgery, the best one can hope for is to emerge in as good as health as before surgery became necessary. In my case this standard has been far exceeded. It has been transformational (a much over-used term). For more than 60 years I have had to wear glasses full-time. Now I enjoy excellent vision, free of them. Only for close work and reading small type do I need glasses. The result has been liberating. I cannot praise Mr Sherafat too highly.
