Professor Eli Silber is an esteemed Consultant Neurologist with an impressive career spanning over two decades. He is based at Kings' College Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he currently serves as the clinical lead, since the year 2000. Prof Silber is a highly experienced general neurologist, adept in diagnosing and treating various neurological conditions, including headaches, dizziness, vertigo, tremors, seizures, and fainting. He is actively involved in the care of acute neurological inpatients.
One of Prof Silber's notable areas of expertise lies in the management of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other inflammatory conditions. He played a pivotal role in establishing the Regional MS Service at Kings College Hospital and a satellite service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This service focuses on diagnosing and managing individuals with MS, offering specialist opinions for complex cases, and assessing eligibility for disease-modifying therapies. Prof Silber is deeply committed to extending care for people with MS, and his research interests include various aspects of MS, such as mental health issues, palliative care for advanced cases, and MS in ethnic minorities.
In addition to his work in MS, Prof Silber is actively involved in acute neurology, providing care for patients with urgent neurological emergencies. He collaborates closely with colleagues in acute general medicine and intensive care units to assess and manage complex and critically ill patients.
Furthermore, Prof Silber is deeply engaged in rehabilitation and palliative care, offering support to patients with neurological disabilities and advanced conditions. He has served as the Neurologist on the National Council for Palliative Care's neurology working group and the European Medical Association's working group on palliative care in MS.
Apart from his clinical work, Prof Silber is involved in research and has been a lead investigator in numerous clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents for MS. His contributions to the field of MS have been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Richard Cave award from the MS Society.
Prof Silber is passionate about education and enjoys teaching. He has been nominated for teaching awards by his medical students and has supervised doctoral students. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of the MRCP exam as part of the specialist question group.
Eli's journey in medicine began at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he studied medicine. He completed his neurology training in Johannesburg, South Africa, before moving to the UK in 1997. He furthered his career at Guy's Hospital in the Department of Neuroimmunology, where he conducted groundbreaking research for his MD thesis on the causes of disability in multiple sclerosis.
With an exceptional career as a Consultant Neurologist and a strong commitment to patient care, Prof Eli Silber continues to make significant contributions to the field of neurology, benefiting patients and advancing the understanding and treatment of neurological conditions.

Dr. Silber was excellent at listening to my concerns and made me feel completely at ease. His calm and reassuring manner really helped me feel comfortable throughout the visit. He offered helpful advice on supplements to ease my migraines, and I’ve already noticed an improvement. He also recommended an MRI and reassured me that he expected the results to be normal—which they were. His confidence and support made a big difference in helping me feel relaxed and less anxious about everything.

Great experience from start to finish. Professor Silber was incredibly thorough, explained everything really clearly, and helped me feel at ease throughout my treatment.

Professor Silber told me that he loves his job and he is clearly very dedicated and hardworking. One of my appointments was quite late in the evening and there was no sense that he was tired; he gave the impression that he had all the time in the world. I found him to be patient, understanding and clear-thinking, explaining at each stage what my options were.

Excellent and swift consultation with clear diagnosis and advice. Only problem was that the clinic had cancelled my appointment; quick action by Mr Silbers secretary on my arrival recovered the situation.

I did really appreciate the experience with Professor Silber, and he explained my condition very well. I did want to clarify a few longer term prospects of my health/condition and felt I either didn't articulate my question well enough or whether there is just too much long term uncertainty but left feeling I didn't get the full clarification I wanted/needed. There may also not have been enough time.
