Dr Lockie, Consultant Cardiologist, is based in London, UK. Currently, he is Clinical Director for the Cardiology Department at the Royal Free London NHS Trust. He has specialisation in complex percutaneous coronary interventions and heart stenting procedures for blocked coronary arteries, as well as specialisation in angioplasty, intravascular imaging, and coronary physiology. Dr Lockie is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Cardiovascular Institute, UCL
Dr Lockie attended University College School in Hampstead, London. He attended Edinburgh University graduating with a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery and First Class Honours in an intercalated BSc. (Med Sci). He then worked at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, before moving to London to begin his Higher Speciality Training in Cardiology at St Thomas's. He undertook research in ischaemic heart disease and re-perfusion and was awarded a PhD from King's College London for his work. During his PhD, he was awarded the prestigious Young Investigators Prize at SCRM. He was later awarded a fellowship at Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam from the European Association of Percutaneous Coronary Interventions. In 2013 he was appointed Consultant Intervention Cardiologist at the Royal Free NHS Trust.
Dr Lockie continuously contributes to medical education, since 2019 he has been the Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at UCL Medical School. He regularly teaches and lectures at many institutions worldwide including the European Society of Cardiology. He is a principle investigator for numerous important multi-centre clinical trials examining many cardiology techniques like novel stents, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in heart failure and cardiogenic shock, renal protection, coronary flow and pressure measurements in PCI. Most recently, he was appointed as a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).
