Mr Mohammad Waseem is a highly qualified Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon, previously practising at Macclesfield District General Hospital in Cheshire. He specialises in arthroscopic surgery of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, providing comprehensive upper limb and trauma surgery care.
Mr Waseem's extensive training spans Manchester, Yorkshire, and Wessex, including an upper limb fellowship in Wrightington and a 14-month upper limb registrar post in Southampton. His trauma training took place in Leeds and Hull. Additionally, he completed two overseas fellowships: a travelling fellowship in microvascular hand surgery at the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, and a travelling trauma fellowship sponsored by AO in Germany.
Actively involved in research and the training of junior doctors, Mr Waseem has numerous publications and international presentations to his credit. A passionate teacher, he lectures nationally and internationally on trauma and upper limb surgery and has been a member of the Court of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, examining both in the UK and abroad.
Outside of medicine, Mr Waseem is an avid cricketer, having represented his region as an under-nineteen player and continuing to play at the club level.
From 2003 to 2023, Mr Waseem served as an NHS consultant. He now practices exclusively in the private sector, available at Spire Regency Hospital, The Wilmslow Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital. His clinical interests include sports injuries, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and stem cell treatments, hand and wrist orthopaedic problems, hand, wrist, and elbow nerve disorders, orthopaedic hand, wrist, and shoulder surgery. He also has specialist expertise in fractures or injuries of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis of the fingers and wrist, carpal tunnel and other nerve-related conditions, ligament injuries of the fingers and wrist, Dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, mallet finger, ganglions of the fingers and wrist in adult and paediatric patients, psoriatic arthritis, and gout.
