Professor Chatrath is an experienced ENT surgeon with particular expertise in the fields of nasal and sinus surgery (including rhinoplasty), snoring and paediatric ENT problems. On completion of his medical degree in 1995 from Cambridge University and the University of London Professor Chatrath was nominated for the prestigious London Gold Medal Viva for achieving distinctions in three subjects. He undertook core surgical training in Cambridge and the higher surgical training program in Otolaryngology in North London. He has worked as a Consultant ENT Surgeon for the NHS at Charing Cross Hospital as well as working in the private sector. He is also Professor of Rhinology/ENT Surgery at Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent.
In his career, Professor Chatrath has completed over 1000 rhinoplasty operations in addition to 1500 paediatric procedures. In addition to these operations, he completes numerous sinus operations using cutting-edge, minimally invasive techniques such as balloon sinuplasty to maximise patient outcomes. He is one of a very limited number of surgeons in the UK specialising in nasal reconstruction and nasal valve surgery. He is experienced using titanium breathe implants.
Professor Chatrath recognises the importance of communication before and after surgical procedures, actively eliciting and answering queries throughout the care cycle. His roles as an examiner at The Royal College of Surgeons, member of the Clinical Audit & Practice Advisory Group and scholarly referee for the Clinical Otolaryngology and Laryngoscope journals demonstrate his position in the evolving field of ENT surgery.

I had a very good experience having this procedure done by Professor Chatrath. He explained the procedure really well and answered all my questions in detail. Everything went really smoothly on the day of the surgery and I have been very pleased with the final outcome.

Epistaxis or nose bleeds are very common, particularly in children but also in adults. They can be caused by infections, allergic rhinitis, trauma and other medical conditions, and can be made worse by alterations in atmospheric conditions such as temperature and/or humidity changes. Treatments are available including topical nasal sprays and creams, nasal cauterisation and medications to stop bleeding.

Undergoing a rhinoplasty (or nose job) is a big decision for most people, as it potentially involves a change to a key part of your overall appearance and character. It is something not to go into lightly and you should do as much research on the procedure as you can. There are lots of considerations, including what you would like to achieve (eg. nasal tip, dorsum, nasal base etc), how it will be done (eg. open, closed) and to what extent you would like to change your nose. This is where the majority of the time will be spent, in order to ensure as good preoperative planning as possible. A brief psychological review is also likely, and image manipulation can also be useful in some cases. Please click on the link for more information.

Having a blocked nose can be very troublesome and debilitating. It affects how you feel, can make you mouth breathe and snore at night and can cause tiredness and headaches. There are many causes including colds, sinusitis and other infections, trauma, nasal polyps and other medical conditions. Thankfully there are many treatment options available, ranging from nasal sprays and drops, antiallergic therapies and surgery in some instances.

ClarifixTM cryotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with a runny nose. It involves freezing the nerve endings at the back of the nose under local or general anaesthetic, with few if any side effects, and a good chance of improvement of your symptoms. It is important to be properly investigated to rule out or fully treat any allergies that you might have, and to manage any other coexistent conditions such as a deviated nasal septum. If you have been struggling with a very runny nose and have tried all other medical options available, it might be worth considering this.
