About Mr Shashank Gurjar
Shanks Gurjar practises as a Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal & General Surgeon at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
He has a special interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) gastrointestinal surgery for bowel cancer (colon and rectum), inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), diverticular disease, and rectal prolapse. He has expertise in laparoscopic and open groin hernia surgery (inguinal, umbilical, femoral, spigelian) and incisional hernia repair.
He offers treatment for all common coloproctological conditions including haemorrhoids (THD and Rafaelo), anal fistula surgery, pilonidal sinus, and anal fissure. He is an accredited endoscopist with expertise in advanced colonoscopy and polypectomy.
He graduated from St Marys Hospital, London and then completed surgical training in the South-East Thames region, before finishing a year-long fellowship in pelvic floor surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
He has a strong academic interest in clinical surgery and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. He is an Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and trains young surgeons in keyhole surgery.
He holds full practising privileges at hospitals in North & Central London and Hertfordshire.

Extremely concise and clear diagnosis. Overall very happy and no complaints in the slightest. I would like to have been a bit clearer about the levels of activity I could do after the procedure but that was my fault for not asking!

Dr Gurjar has been exceptionally great in helping me deal with my LIFT procedure. He also helped with a lot of advice during my recovery period. I would definitely recommend him as a surgeon to treat this sort of issues.
