It’s no exaggeration to say that Andrew has changed my life. After spending eight years seeing various doctors without receiving a clear diagnosis or an effective treatment plan, Andrew was the first to truly get to the root of the problem. He diagnosed me with Keratoconus and carried out cross-linking treatment, along with the treatment plan he put me on this has significantly improved my quality of life. What sets Andrew apart is not only his expertise but the time and care he takes to explain everything thoroughly. You feel genuinely listened to and looked after. He’s a doctor who truly cares about his patients, and I’m incredibly grateful I made the decision to book an appointment with him.

I came with my Dad for his first appointment and his follow up appointment with Andrew. On both occasions Andrew treated my Dad with so much respect and compassion. He explained everything in terms that a 87 year old could understand. The prognosis and treatment were spot on and my Dads condition has cleared up completely. Mr Walkden has been amazing throughout the whole process of correcting my eyes. He discussed all the options with me and left me feeling reassured that the right decision had been made. During the surgery he was attentive, thorough and ensured I was relaxed and calm throughout the procedure- even letting me choose the music we listened to! The after care has been amazing and I feel as though my needs have been met. All of the staff on Ward 54 have been friendly and helpful.

And courteous and appreciative of his colleagues at every level- that perhaps sets him apart and was a privilege to observe. Displays clear passion for what he does and rightly proud of NHS delivering it.

Mr Walkden is at the top of his game. I've never met such a professional down to earth Doctor who treats you as an individual. He is extremely passionate about his work but also explains everything in plain English so that you totally understand everything you need to know. He leads by example & his whole team work well together in a relaxed calm environment.
